We've been using numicon shapes and cover cards to make "take away" number sentences in Room 1 this week.
As well as practicing learning to write our numbers at the start of each maths lesson we sing a couple of counting songs. Here are a selection of the songs I pick from each day that your child may enjoy also listening to, and counting along at home.
Counting to 100
Counting by 2s, 5s and 10s
Counting down from 20
It was a lovely warm day on Tuesday, so we had 3 activities outside for developmental time as well as some inside as a refreshment away from the heat.
This week in maths we used number rods to find two different rods that added together to make a number. We represented some of these discoveries by drawing them in our books.
Our reading activity this week was using salt trays to practice writing our sight words.
On Friday we completed our "half portraits". Using a photo of our faces that had been cut in half we used pencil to add in the rest of our face. The children then coloured in their art work and is now up on the wall in Room 1. It is great to see the children's creativity being expressed as well and their fun and inventive ideas in the want to have colourful hair and school t-shirts!
As well as looking at patterns, this week we have also been talking about 'teen numbers'.
